Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Officers state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report initial examinations indicate the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; authorities are not yet aware of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities said they were working "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.
A senior political figure stated the incident rendered him without words and required to be solved quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine individuals by a assailant targeting residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
